Ted and I invited vets who we thought had the time, talent, and inclination to write for our book. We know there are great stories out there and many more potential authors, but the demands of work and family life often leave little time for writing. First, we spread the word at one of our annual zoo and wildlife medicine meetings. Then we followed up with e-mails.

We also made a point of approaching vets who work internationally and/or in a variety of clinical settings, hoping to reflect the depth and range of the profession.
